10 Years of Togetherness with Robosoft Technologies
Saritha Shenoy, a Senior Software Engineer at Robosoft Technologies completes 10 years with us this March. She has an extensive experience working on the Mac platform and React JS apps. An avid reader and nature lover, she loves ideating about concepts that are simple to execute and powerful in creating memorable experiences.
Many Congratulations to Saritha on her successful 10 years with Robosoft. In this article she pens down her feelings, experiences & insights from her decade long journey.
It was March 1st, 2010 when I joined Robosoft Technologies as fresher at their Udupi campus and it’s been 10 years since and counting. Robosoft has given me the opportunity to explore and experience my passion for coding while being at my native place and support my parents.
I have learned a lot of things here. The journey yes has had its ups and downs, more so after I got promoted into the role of being a ‘Mother’. Balancing personal life and work was challenging and there were days when I was stressed about both of them having an impact on each other.
I am not a feminist, but, I have immense respect for women, especially due to their ability to manage their personal and professional lives, their sacrifices, hard work, patience, multitasking ability, empathy and so much more to look up to.
On my 10th year work anniversary, I feel honored and privileged to share my experiences and thank Robosoft Technologies for supporting me through all these years.
Here’s truly hoping that a lot of other companies consider the importance of supporting women and providing them with a little flexibility, like offering Laptops for instance, that can help contribute towards the company’s growth to a greater extent.
Here are a few tips I’d like to share with freshers who are looking to grow but are bogged down by their own mental blocks and inhibitions.
Imbibe a positive attitude:
Initially, I was underestimating myself. Since I had to follow a fixed schedule to take care of my baby I thought I will not be able to take up Technical challenges, or other project-related challenges. So I avoided taking up responsibilities. A casual conversation with my sister changed this attitude. I realized that I was shifting towards a negative attitude. I was extremely competitive in school days, and so much more positive about taking up new challenges; that got me so many prizes in studies as well as other activities. I identified that the challenge was my mindset and quickly changed my attitude. There might be some failures and difficulties, but, if I can overcome them, so can you. March ahead fearlessly.
Have a disciplined life:
Before marriage, I did not have an interest in following a disciplined/regular routine. I realize how important it is to do things that you like at a particular time. When it comes to family management, there should be a fixed routine that you can commit to. My husband influenced me to have a disciplined routine. Following a discipline has helped me in my career as well, like following the coding guidelines strictly. A good and positive start can reap the best results. Don’t think it’s applicable only in the school environment, following a good discipline is much needed in our personal lives too.
Relax & have fun
Life is not just about work and family time is not limited to weekends alone. You should have a good relationship with your surroundings through which you derive a lot of happiness. As you may be spending a lot of your time at your work premises, try to maintain a good work environment by maintaining a good relationship with your colleagues. Give more, expect less. Adjust and adapt, have a cordial relationship with your colleagues. Always balance work and fun at a 90:10 ratio. Also, be part of important events like releasing milestones, because, it’s a TEAM at the end of the day that matters the most.
